What is a Bike Fitting?

A bike fitting is an evaluation to fit the bike (tool) to the athlete’s body for efficient mechanics, ability to produce power, proper breathing, and achieve balance and comfort. It is a dynamic and collaborative session making adjustments to the rider’s stance, where he or she comes in contact with the five contact points of the bike.

Why is a Bike Fitting important?

How your body interacts with your bike impacts how you ride. A good bike fit can improve how much power you can efficiently transfer to the pedals as well as aerodynamics to make you faster.

Bike fitting is also about making sure you are balanced and as comfortable as possible. This balance is key in contributing to the ability to leverage the bike to perform the technical skills needed for safety and achieving tactical skills for racing. If a bike doesn’t fit you properly it can cause all sorts of pain, aches and safety issues.

What to Expect at your Bike Fitting

During this time we will evaluate the athlete’s biomechanics, flexibility and special needs related to the specific cycling discipline.
